Need within Community Assessment DATA Mental health disorders are some of the most common health concerns in the United States, with a lifetime prevalence of any mental illness near 20% among US adults (Brown et al 2021). In 2022 the health systems of the Milwaukee Health Care Partnership conducted a collaborative Community Health need assessment (CHNA) in Milwaukee County. This serves as the foundation from which hospitals, local health departments and communities develop their respective health improvement strategies. The five top health issues identified were: Mental Health, Violence, Drug use and Overdose, Alcohol Misuse and Abuse, and Access to Health Care Services. The CHNA identified four priority populations with unique health needs: African Americans, Hispanic/Latino, Children and youth less than 18 years old and Elderly greater than 65 years old.
