The readings for this module focus on conflict resolution and handling difficult patients as well as patient complaints. Handling a patient complaint is not on the top of a health care provider's list of favorites as we all know. However, when faced with a "difficult" patient encounter or complaint, we can look at the experience as a valuable learning tool. The challenge is to use the information gathered to improve quality, safety, and accessibility of health care. Please describe an experience you have had or witnessed in your FNP student clinical areas. How was it handled and would you have handled it in the same way? Did the resolution have any impact on future health care decisions? Have you seen any of the approaches described in the readings being used in your clinical area?
