Assignment:

Prepare a title and overview slide that describes the required components to be addressed in the presentation.

NOTE: It is strongly recommended to review resources from previous weeks if needed to appropriately address all components of the presentation.

Part 1: Include data totals for the following areas:

• Deficiencies and delinquencies
• Release of information requests received validity of HIPAA authorization forms (i.e., valid or invalid)
• Duplicate records
• Duplicate record merges
• Duplicate record error rate
• A fictional number of patient records can be created to compute the duplicate record error rate. The Pursley (2023) required resource will assist with the calculation.
• Number of coders
• Coders who coded the case correctly
• Coding accuracy rate (Number of coders who coded the case correctly/number of coders)

Part 2: Evaluation of Data

Describe the rationale for the data, for example, were there new coders that decreased the coding accuracy or physicians out of town that were unable to complete their deficiencies? Fictional information may be incorporated to provide an appropriate rationale.

Part 3: Process Improvement

Explain process improvement methods that you will implement within the department and/or organization to improve the data and operations for the following areas:

• Minimizing deficiencies and delinquencies and improving health record documentation
• Improving the validity of HIPAA authorizations
• Minimizing duplicate records and duplicate error rate
• Improving coding accuracy and increasing reimbursement claim approvals
