Q1) You have been hired by consumer research agency to do a study of consumer response to two different shampoos.  One of shampoos is designed to provide "squeaky clean" hair  and other is designed to provide "super volume". You distribute 1000 sample bottles of each type of shampoo to test market of men and women who have agreed to try shampoos and point out a preference.  After 2 weeks you survey test market with following results:

Squeaky Clean

Super Volume

Male

253

275

Female

187

265

Use Test of Independence to test hypothesis at.05 level of significance that gender makes a difference in choice of the shampoos.

i) Mention the null and alternative hypotheses being tested

ii) Give the calculated value of the test statistic

iii) Mention the critical value of test statistic (Or give the p-value of the test.)

iv) Mention and explain the decision.
