Meeting the required job expectations

One source I would use is managers because they should be in charge of the employees anyways and they should know what the job entails along with how the employee does their job (well or not). The other I would use is customers. Other people can rate you on how you treated them. This can include attitude, problem solving, manners/respect, and efficiency. I would say the sources are valid. I think employees could even rate themselves to see where they think they stand compared to where their bosses see them and discuss any differences that they find. These sources can let the employee know what they are doing well on and areas where they need training or improvement. It can also let them know if they are meeting the required job expectations or if they have received any compliments or complaints on them. Getting feedback both positive and negative is the main way for someone to change what they are doing to make things better.

If I am just referring to my current company, we already do self evaluations once a year at the same time we get our annual employee evaluations from one of our tour commanders. They want to see where we think we are vs. where they see us. Anytime though that (if it happens) we get a compliment or complaint it gets sent to us in an email and if it is really bad, a meeting in our directors office. However, they would still be documented on the review for that year. No one (other than our daily co-workers) knows where we stand more than the shift supervisors we work with everyday.
