You were just hired as the North American Operations Manager in a Medical Equipment Manufacturing and Supply firm. You were hired from outside of the organization, due to your successful track record as an executive at an Information Technology Services/Consulting firm. The organization that you came from was a matrix firm, with limited hierarchical structure, employed empowered, smart employees, and had an excellent team of transformational mid-level managers. All of the work was accomplished via teams and projects.

Now at this new organization, you discover that the firm is very hierarchical and built upon a bureaucratic, highly political, transactional style. You have received buy-in from upper management to begin transforming the organizational culture and structure within the United States, because their employee retention rates, sales revenues, and overall performance has steadily begun to decline over the course of the last five years.

Using concepts discuss how you would approach this cultural and structural makeover within the company putting employees first.
