Folks, another issue that we clearly see in this scenario is that the employee is only one year from retirement, and so this individual will likely slide by, but the co-workers of this employee may have to work several more years at this company. As several have mentioned, how can we achieve this happy medium where we can have a balance between loyalty to our friend, and loyalty to our employer?

In the instance that these measures do not remedy the problem, when would we begin to take more drastic and direct measures?
