Question
Many factors within the community can affect its resources and needs. In saying this, geopolitical and phenomenological places influence the context of a population or community by assessing community boundaries, features, homes, and facilities in the public (Green, 2018). These factors influence the context as the nurse must know the conditions of what a particular community looks like before being able to intervene in order to improve their health. Nurses are taught to use "the nursing process" and use this way of thinking in order to give individualized patient care. Five steps are used throughout the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and finally evaluation. If a nurse is trying to assess a problem such as diabetes in a specific community, they would have to assess the people in the community and their resources. Next, the nurse would have to "diagnose" what is the culprit to the increase in diabetes in that community and start a plan of action to combat diabetes. This can be early screening for diabetes in children and sending referrals to a dietician. The same applies if a solution is acquired for spiritual support as diseases like diabetes can take a toll on a person. Lastly, the nurse can evaluate if their interventions helped the issue at hand. During the implementation process, the nurse can work together with community resources to aid in specific interventions like asking for referrals for needs like food, clothing, or housing to improve and aid in the issue. A community program that gives food to the public who are in need to help a child and their family eat nutritious foods. Lastly, nurses have to consider religious and spiritual beliefs when doing patient care. The Christian worldview can influence intervention by using the moral of seeing patients who are humans which fairness, dignity, and individuality. This can be helpful as when the nurse cares for a person and an issue they see how it affects them physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
