Business Case: In 2008, you started your own business that manufactures a line of organic food and beverage products using sustainable manufacturing processes. Most of your raw materials are grown and sourced in the Southeast region of the U.S. Because your products are organic and sustainable, refrigeration and special packaging is required, which increases the cost of goods versus your primary competition. You currently have a national (U.S.) sales force that has been able to gain distribution of your products in the major speciality food stores (PCC, Whole Foods, Metropolitan Markets) but have not been able to sell into Costco. Recent consumer research has also shown that there is a potential demand in international markets for your organic food and beverage products. Last week, you received a call from Anderson Daymon Worldwide / Acosta (ADW/Acosta) a broker that only works with Costco. This concept seems intriguing, so you decide to look further on the broker's website to help you make an informed decision on whether to use a broker or continuing to sell direct.

Using your own critical reasoning, discuss the following:

* What services will ADW / Acosta provide to help grow your product sales at Costco?

* What roles will ADW / Acosta potentially play in network integration and coordination? Expand on each role.

* What risks are associated with using a broker instead of selling direct? List a minimum of 3. Note - I cover this in the weekly video lecture.

* Would you use this broker to help sell your product into Costco? Why or Why Not?

* If you apply for a job with ADW / Acosta (or any company), how do you feel about having your Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter accounts used as part of the screening process?
