ASSIGNMENT BRIEF

Part 1-

Scenario and Activity

You have been appointed as a Human Resource officer for an organization of your choice. You are encouraged to use your own place of work or a small and medium enterprise where appropriate. The newly reformed Human Resources (HR) department has assigned you to review the function, role and scope of HR and the effectiveness of different elements of HR within the organizational context.

Activity 1
You are expected to conduct evidence based secondary study to assess the different HR practices and suggest the best for the organization selected. This has to be submitted in a report format which should include the following:

1. An Introduction covering overview of the organization selected.

2. Explain the different functions of HRM applicable to planning and resources the required workforce for the selected organization. Assess the purposes of function to achieve the business objectives.

3. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to recruitment and selection and critically evaluate them with appropriate examples across the businesses.

4. Explain the benefits of different HRM practices for employees as well as employers. Evaluate how they help in improving productivity and contribute to the profits of the organization.

5. Analyse the importance of effective employee relations in HRM and evaluate the impact it has upon the HRM decision making.

6. Identify the key elements of employee legislations and critically evaluate how good HRM practices and the employee legislations influence the decision making in the organization with relevant examples.

Part 2-

Scenario and Activity

Using the same scenario as in Part 1 above, you have been assigned to take part in testing the new recruitment and selection process.

You are required to design a job specification for a position of your choice within the selected organization, advertise the job in social media, conduct interview for the job.

The aim of this task is to test the recruitment and selection process and each person to complete an individual document portfolio to be submitted as part of the overall work for the module in the form of individual portfolio folder. The portfolio should include the following 6 documents:

1. The design of a job description and person specification for the selected job role.

2. A specimen of an advertisement in a social media for the given position in the organisation.

3. Two CV's, one tailored to meet the key requirements for the advertised job.

4. A documentation of preparatory notes for interviews, assessment and selection criteria, Justification for the decision.

5. A job offers to the selected candidate.

6. An evaluation document of the entire recruitment and selection process.
