One of the many things that people who first move into management positions learn is that it is often not their communication that is a problem, but, the way that people interpret their communication. Thus, effective communication is not only important, but, so too is recognizing barriers that commonly exist to effective communication. When and if you are a manager in criminal justice in the future, please discuss how you will handle some of the barriers to effective communication listed on page 216 of Kania and Davis.
