Question

You have been serving as the manager for the cardiac unit for the last two years in an urban 450-bed hospital. Recently a new position was created for a nurse leader for the cardiac service line. This new leader will manage the cardiac rehabilitation program, the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU), the cardiac medical/surgical unit, and the congestive heart failure (CHF) case management program. The chief nurse executive has encouraged you to apply for this position. The group interview will be with the Medical Director for Cardiology, the Chief Nursing Executive, and the Financial Officer for Cardiac Services, the Nurse Managers for CICU and the Cardiac Rehab Program, and the nurse practitioner who coordinates the CHF program.
