Since you are a smart NP, you look up amoxicillin on a pediatric drug prescribing resource Download pediatric drug prescribing resourceand find that you would like to use the highest otitis media dose of 90 mg/kg/day dose given in 2 divided doses. Billy weighs 11 kg and the amoxicillin comes in different dose concentrations. You may choose to use one of the following concentrations: 200mg/5ml, 250 mg/5ml or 400mg/5ml for Billy. You will also need to calculate the total number of milliliters to dispense for the 10 day prescription.
