Visual Effects and Animation Assignment - 3D Project
Overview -
In this assignment you will create a multimedia presentation that incorporates 3D modelling, object appearance and world settings, lighting, and animation. The presentation must apply and demonstrate 3D Animation principles, methods and visual effects techniques. You are free to determine the type of visual effects or animation methods that you use, however more complex animation techniques will attract higher marks. All animations must add value in the presentation of your topic. The project will must be implemented using the Blender Modelling Suite.
Topics - The focus of your project is to showcase a location that is either a New Zealand tourist Location or Cultural Heritage site. Some examples are :-
1. The Hamilton Gardens (or a particular garden within it such as the Japanese garden).
2. The Rotorua Skyline Gondala Rides
3. The Waikato River Walkways and Historical Sites
4. The Bridal Veil Falls.
Topics must be approved by the Tutor first. Initial Storyboard Design
You will create a design brief outlining your topic and including storyboard sketches. Free hand sketches should be scanned into digital format. Remember that the storyboard needs to clearly communicate your ideas.
Presentation - You will need to give a 5-10 minute in class presentation of your completed assignment that must address
1. Description of your topic.
2. Explanation of visual effects and used.
3. Animation principles selected and how they have been applied.
4. Types of animation you chose to use and why.
5. How your animations and visual effects add value to your topic.
Specific requirements - Animate the "Bridge to nowhere" in Whanganui, New Zealand.
Things to include in the animation -
1. Showing this view as then first camera angle.
2. The second camera angle should be this one showing people walking on the bridge.
3. Showing the trees that are around to be moving due to the breeze in the first camera angle.
