A.R., age 42, is an Arab woman whose mother died after a long battle with cancer. At the hospital, her mother appeared to be in a lot of pain when she passed. A.R. did not feel the nurse were keeping her as comfortable as she could have been. Once she passed, they did not allow her to perform rituals that reflect her cultural beliefs.

A.R.'s husband has made an appointment with the psychologist because he says she has been acting "unusual" compared to her normal self. A.R. went from refusing to look at her mother's belongings or handle the funeral arrangements to slamming doors and fighting with her husband.
