Question

A little boy needed a liver transplant and a serial killer was a match for it. Without brain surgery, the serial killer is going to die and he is also sentenced to die in five days. The doctors didn't assess if the serial killer should be allowed to choose to die and donate his organs. They violated the patient's right to make healthcare decisions. Even though he agreed to donate his organs at first, and later changed his mind, his decisions should have been respected. The doctors didn't consider beneficence and non-maleficence, which is doing what is in the patient's best interests while avoiding causing no harm. Even though the patient agreed at first, and later changed his mind, the doctors should have considered fair distribution of benefits and burden.
