Monolithic, Layered as well as Client Server models are some of major models involving data communications in network. The presentation explains the major differences and similarities between Monolithic and Layered models of data communication. Some of the differences are Monolithic model employs irregular or haphazard layering of data with operating system being run in kernel mode and applications being run in different mode, while Layered model is much more organized than Monolithic model.
