The beginning of Chapter 15 addresses how psychiatrists and psychologists distinguish between a psychological disorder vs. "unusual" behavior by attempting to define "psychological disorder."

How do you make the distinction between "normal" vs. "abnormal?" Which aspects of the textbook readings do you agree with? Disagree with?

Is normal healthy? For example, in our culture obesity has become "normal" yet unhealthy.

Does it make sense to use the term "abnormal" when dealing with mental health issues? Why or why not?

Behavioral changes will be get influenced by the factors which are external whereas psychological disorders depend on the internal and physiological factors like the functioning of the body organs.Majority of the people in the society will have mental disorders but they will ignore their symptoms taking them as normal and will hesitate to seek the advice of the health care professional.
