Your task is to begin to design a study to answer the research question
Research questions:

  • Is exposure to UV radiation associated with skin cancer?

Using complete sentences and proper grammar, please write 1-2 pages that describe your study. Be sure to answer all of these questions as you describe your study:
1. what is your research question ?
2. Which study design are you using, and why? (Choose between cohort, case- control, and randomized trial.) What are the key disadvantages to the other designs?
3. What population will you study?
4. How will you draw your sample from that population ,and how many people will you enroll?
5. How will you measure the exposure of interest? How will you define "exposed" and "unexposed" groups? Use binary (i.e., "yes" or "no") variables for both exposure and outcome. So, even if your exposure COULD be continuous (e.g., age), decide on a cut-off point to categorize participants as "old" or "young."
6. How will you measure the outcome of interest? How will you identify those with the outcome of interest and those without?
7. For cohort studies :how long will you follow participants over time?
8. For case-control studies: how will you recruit controls? Over what time frame will you ask participants to report their exposure status?
9. For randomized trials: how will you randomize participants?
