Instructions: Read the fictional scenario below and the Jacobsen text Introduction to Health Research Methods: A Practical Guide. Then formulate qualitative methods which could be used to determine attitudes and beliefs toward the public health issue described in the scenario.

Use the required headings shown below as a template:

• Sample

o Briefly describe the population from which the sample will be drawn and how subjects comprising the sample will be recruited

• Data Collection

o One qualitative data collection method (i.e.- focus group, interview, photo voice, etc.),

o Two questions designed to supply qualitative responses.

• Analysis

Consider the research population and standard research ethics as you formulate your proposed method.

Scenario: Influenza is a preventable disease that often has a high incidence, especially in schools and university populations. You are a public health researcher interested in understanding attitudes and beliefs regarding influenza vaccination among college students. The results will be used to inform future campus health initiatives aimed at decreasing the incidence of influenza in the student population.
