In previous modules, you were introduced to the Joint Commission, the accrediting body for most healthcare providers. TJC's goal is to foster a relationship between the patient and the provider that is based on best practices. In conjunction, the Institute of Medicine has offered a definition for quality healthcare that encompasses six dimensions: safety, patient-centered, efficient, effective, equitable, and timely. For some organizations to ensure they are meeting these six dimensions, they will offer patients the ability to complete a survey.
