Scenario
You are an aged care support worker who provides services to older people who are still living at home. You visit Mrs Valda Budley twice per week and provide showering assistance to her. Mrs Budley's daughter, Louise, showers her mother at other times. Mrs Budley is 92 years old and lives alone in her home of sixty years. She has a little dog, Pippy, whom she adores.
When you visit Mrs Budley today and assist her to stand from her chair, she moans and complains of a sore arm. Pippy the dog also starts to growl. When you ask her what happened, she is vague in her response. While you are assisting Mrs Budley to undress, you notice severe bruising to her right arm and torso. This bruising was not present when you last visited her. Part of the bruising on her arm indicates finger marks. You are immediately concerned that someone has done this and proceed to enquire further.
