Robertson is a 68-year-old woman with complaints of increasing fatigue, generalized weakness and sore spots at both corners of her mouth. She says these symptoms have been getting worse over the past month or so. She is still working as a home health nurse, usually 3 to 4 days a week. She has recently had to cut back on her work hours due to being too tired to get through the day. She has a history of IBS, generally controlled with daily fiber and increased water intake, also GERD which caused some erosive esophagitis. Otherwise, she has been in good health, 6 months ago she joined her daughter in trying to follow a vegan diet, this has helped her IBS. She lives alone in a one-bedroom condo near the beach and was walking daily for 1 or 2 miles with her dog. Lately she has had to shorten their walks to ½ mile or less due to her ongoing fatigue and some new shortness of breath while walking.
