In this discussion board, take time to identify values that are important to you in your life. While your own values are important to you and influence your decisions, judgement, thoughts, and opinions; you will not share the same values as all of the clients you will work with in the helping profession. It is important to realize that your client's values, thoughts, opinions, and decisions are of equal importance in his/her life. After identifying the values that drive your own life take time to discuss how you will ensure that your own personal values do not unduly influence the counseling/helping process. Lastly, as you discuss values, consider any values that you hold that may be difficult to separate from the work you do in the helping profession.

In chapter 3 you will find specific information in the textbook regarding this discussion topic. I expect that you will have read the chapter and will include information that you are learning in your discussion response.
