In today's dynamic healthcare environment, leaders are expected to assume a greater change agent role and will be required to use their positional power and expertise to lead their organizations forward in uncertain waters. An in-depth understanding of organizational structures, power dynamics, resistance to change, and other factors is vital to becoming a master change agent.
This assessment provides an opportunity for you to examine the key factors in an organization that influence the development of an appropriate change strategy and implementation plan.
Reminder: In this third assessment, you'll select a healthcare organization (either your current employer or the example provided in the case study, Healthassist, Inc.: Leading through a Pandemic (Chapter 8, pages 317-333). You are highly encouraged to select your current employer on which to base your work and, if you choose this path, make sure your workplace completes the Learner and Employer Acknowledgement and Release Form

After reviewing the case study or examining your organization complete the following:
Analyze how the organization used structures and systems to deal with environmental uncertainty and complexity.
Identify which types of power were at play within the organization.
Describe how the various stakeholders and departments were impacted.
Discuss how the change disrupted the psychological contract that existed in the organization.
Identify the various conflicts and resistance to change.
Determine whether the change is programmatic, discontinuous, or emergent.
Analyze the case study or your organization and leader's communication practices throughout the change management process, and synthesize the best practices outlined in the text. Was the communication strategy effective?
