Self-care activities are simple things that you do to care for yourself such as exercise, yoga, meditation, soaking in a bath, listening to music, chatting with a friend, reading, using essential oils, stress balls, weighted blankets, colouring, etc. All these activities can bring comfort and joy and help you to cope and destress.

Think about tangible objects for your Self-Care Toolkit that you can carry with you in your knapsack, purse, pocket or container that will provide immediate comfort and joy and help you to address your stressors; examples can include a notepad for journaling, pipe cleaner, stress ball, fidget toys, essential oil, quotes, pictures, etc.

Select, at minimum, three tangible items for your personal Self-Care Toolkit.

  1. Identify the three, at minimum, tangible (real/in-hand/portable) tools in your self-care toolkit.
  2. Explain why you choose those three tangible tools to add to your Self-Care Toolkit. Be specific, explain why you choose each tool. How is the tool addressing your stress?

Practice using the three tangible tools in your Self-Care Toolkit for one week consistently.

  1. Evaluate and explain if the tangible tools you selected were beneficial in bringing you comfort and joy and addressing stressors.
  2. Explain, at minimum, one challenge/drawback that you experienced in using your tangible tools.
  3. Would you recommend this activity to others? What benefits could you share that might be beneficial to them? Explain.
