Bobby Joe is a 21-year-old multip. This is her third pregnancy and she delivered by C-section 96 hours ago. No complications in pregnancy; babe did have numerous decelerations of heart rate during labour and the decision was made to proceed with a C-section. Upon reviewing the hospital discharge liaison form, a few areas are highlighted by the hospital nurse. Bobby Joe's two previous children are currently in custody of the paternal grandmother. Mom has a history of substance use; has remained sober during this pregnancy. She is motivated to breastfeed and is wanting support with that. She is concerned with the pain in her incision and feels the medications she is taking are not working well. She has made a few comments about her distrust of the health care providers and concerned that they are "going to take her child away". You are assigned this client for assessment today and will be speaking to the client over the phone.
