For my capstone project, I need to identify a staff learning need on my clinical unit. I noticed a lot of nurses fail to use the pulsatile flushing technique for central lines. They tend to flush with continuous pressure and, essentially, slam the saline flush in the catheter. Pulsatile flushing is associated with decreased risk for occlusion. Can you think of an educational tool or in service idea that is creative and not boring to educate nurses on this?
