Mr. Delong is a 55-year-old client diagnosed with emphysema. He tells you he never smokes, but another healthcare worker tells you she saw him smoking outside the hospital before he came in.

Mrs. Lane is a 32-year-old woman who presents at the ER with her husband. She has a laceration on her face requiring stitches, and bruises on her arms. She tells you she was "clumsy and fell off a chair" she was using to change a light bulb. She appears wary of her husband, who is hovering over her protectively.

Part of scholarly writing involves the ability to synthesize information into succinct and clear writing "making a case" in your written discussion.
