Question - According to the Economist (2017), online shopping was 8.5% of the worlds retail spending. In the US, it was 10%. Amazon and Alibaba have managed to take a chink of these sales shaking up industries from Amazon to logistics. This is only the beginning of online shopping. Will this atmosphere foster competition or restrain demand? The Internet in general lower barriers to entry and evens the playing ground. Local businesses can compete with national or international giants. Amazon bought Whole foods this year and is planned to change the grocery industry.
