Why is it that, in so many cases, we can hope to successfully mitigate symptoms, rather than cure the disorder? We know that when someone suffers from a validly diagnosed psychological or psychiatric disease or disorder, they have something wrong with their nervous system: it is a structural problem, a functional problem, or both. So, why don't we just figure out how to target the dysfunction in the nervous system, using things like neuroimaging?
