Problem

As teams and agencies begin the response process following the Stadtown F4 tornado incident, an Intelligence/Investigations Function is developed. Group members begin to collect and develop reports for the Incident Commander. One of the priorities for the Intelligence/Investigations Function is to work with the National Weather Service to determine if there is a continued threat of severe weather at the incident site. The Intelligence/Investigations Function is able to ascertain that continued storms will threaten the area over the next 24 hours. The Intelligence/Investigations Function also begins working with various town and county agencies to determine the damage to critical infrastructure, such as the water supply, communications, and power and gas lines. The Intelligence/Investigations Function is informed that Stadtown's water supply is contaminated and that the water treatment plant has sustained damage, placing it out of service. They report this information to the Incident Commander to assist in the development of the Incident Action Plan (IAP).
