Case study to be selected and how can we find a case study in literature
The selected case should have demonstrated how one specific industry 4.0 technology has transformed the logistics activities or supply chain of a particular organisation/company/industry sector, rather than discuss the benefits of industry 4.0 technologies for an industry in a general sense. Note that "industry 4.0 technologies" include a set of technologies, such as machine learning, AI, optimisation, cloud computing, blockchain, 3D printing, and digital twin. The selected case study article should have one specific technology as its focus. The selected case study should use one specific organisation/company or one industry sector (e.g. automobile manufacturing) as its business focus.
The case study literature source can be a journal article, conference article, dissertation/thesis, industry report, government report, or a web article/page with sufficient details. This case study should be from a (one) single article, though you may use other internet-based sources to find more background information about the focal organisation/company/industry sector. The title page of the slides should clearly list your case study source. Get top-notch online assignment help.
To find a good case study, first, we need to determine a focal industry 4.0 technology. For instance, after a good thought, Bill [myself: a student] choose "blockchain" as the focal Industry 4.0 technology [This is just an example, you can choose another one major industry 4.0 technology].
Second, we visit one of the following search engines and search information sources/articles on the real case study.
Google Scholar - you probably can find a good case study article from here.
La Trobe University e Library.
Google [or Google News] - this can be useful for web article or industry reports.
The keywords you can utilise/try in this search can be ["blockchain" can be replaced to any industry 4.0 technology of your choice],
blockchain supply chain case study
blockchain supply chain application
blockchain logistics case study
blockchain supply chain agriculture [NOTE: agriculture is an industry that might interest you; you can use another industry that interest you]
blockchain food supply chain [NOTE: food is an industry sector that might interest you; you can use another industry sector that interest you]
What we should discuss in this presentation with the case study and any suggested structure of the presentation?
This presentation should discuss the background of this industry case study, the challenges/dilemmas/difficulties that faced this organisation/company/industry sector, and how the particular technology generated (or has been generating) the benefits for this organisation/company/industry sector, the limitations/disadvantages (negative impacts) of using the discussed technology in this organisation/company/industry sector, and the potential benefits of introducing another industry 4.0 technology to further transform this organisation/company/industry sector.
A suggested structure and more detailed information can be found in the PowerPoint file HERE. But you do NOT have to use the PowerPoint template (images/figures, fonts, etc.) in this file.
Only the content on each slide and your verbal (audio) explanation will be marked. For each slide, you can add "notes" to facilitate your presentation and recording, but these "notes" will NOT be marked.
How can I record my presentation and submit it to LMS?
Presentation: You are required to record your presentation into PowerPoint slides and submit your PowerPoint file (.PPTX or .PPT file) to LMS. Slides and your audio explanation should be recorded into the slides you submitted, but video information from the camera should NOT be included. Note that LMS has a file size limit of 100 MB and your submitted file size should be less than this limit.
You can find the instructions on how to record your presentation into PowerPoint slides HERE. On this webpage, the information regarding exporting the recording to a video file is not relevant because you are required to submit a PowerPoint (.PPTX or .PPT) file rather than a video file in this assessment. A good feature of PowerPoint recording is that it allows you to record for a particular slide: every time you are not satisfied with the recording on a particular slide and want to re-record for that slide, simply go to that slide, delete the recording on that slide only, and re-record for that particular slide.
Sometimes, you might need to dig into the article to find more information sources. For instance, I got an article [Rogerson, M., & Parry, G. C. (2020). Blockchain: case studies in food supply chain visibility. Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, 25(5), 601-614.] which details two real cases of food supply chain using blockchain in Section 4.1 (Agridigital) and Section 4.2 (Techrock), but did not give sufficient information. Then I continued a "Google" search using the keyword "Techrock blockchain" to get more information about the blockchain case "Techrock", and finally I found an web article having much information for me to use as my case study article.
As another demonstration, through Google search with "blockchain food supply chain", I found IBM's Food Trust is an innovation, and then searched more on "IBM Food Trust", which brought me to one IBM's website which contains serval case studies including Pietro Coricelli, Antonello Produce, Farmer Connect, Walmart, Sustainable shrimp, Atea's Seafood Provenance Network. I could go through them, and pick one of them as my focus in Assignment 3.
World Economic Forum hosts a website on "Global Lighthouse Network", which also provides a collection of case studies on world leading companies ("lighthouse factories") who are pioneers in adopting Industry 4.0 technologies. You may also be able to find some good cases particularly on logistics and supply chain.
