I would like to start this post by discussing a sociological theory and how it relates to healthcare. When viewing the ideology of health, there are numerous theoretical perspectives that we can use to examine this phenomenon. As I can address this concept from various vantage points, I think the Structural Functionalist perspective best explains the healthcare system. I believe this theory fits best with this topic because it explains how we need medicine to function within society. It is noticeable that the healthcare system varies from culture to culture and country to country, but it appears that medicine's function provide citizens with the remedies they need to "get back on their feet" and become functioning members of society.

For instance, as we are in a pandemic, how has this global illness affected our function as a global society? What have doctors done to try and remedy this situation (vaccinations)? How might these steps help bring society back to normalcy, and how might the inequalities (having access to medicine) negatively affect individuals of low-income countries?
