Methanol CH3OH can be added to gasolineto "remove" condensed water in the gasoline. Methanol has a density of 0.792 g/mL and a heat of combustion of -1078 kJ per mole Methanol. Gasoline is a homogeneous mixutre of several hydrocarbon liquids, but to simplfiy the calculations we will use hexane as a model for gasoline. Hexane (C6H6) has a density 0f 0.6548 g/mL and a heat combustion of -3135kJ per mole Hexane. How many kJ of energy and grams of CO2 are produced from the combustion of exactly one gallon of methanol. And how many kJ of energy and grams of CO2 are produced from the combustion of exactly one gallon of hexane?
