Assignment: Foundations of Human Resources in Health Care Organizations

During Units 1 and 2, you learned about some of the roles and responsibilities of human resources professionals, as well as some of the challenges they face. For this assignment, imagine you are being interviewed by a reporter who wants to know a little about human resources in a healthcare setting. Answer each of the questions as if you are responding to the reporter. You may copy and paste the questions into a Word document and provide your answers. 1. What are the skills, knowledge, and abilities required to be an effective human resource professional?

2. How is the human resources department structured? Who is responsible for the different functions of the department and what are some of their responsibilities?

3. What is your role in managing and enforcing health care quality standards, such as those put in place by The Joint Commission or the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services? Are there other quality standard organizations you interact with?
