For this week we learned how federalism can be beneficial to our state and country. During the pandemic, there were many difficult decisions that the government had to make. Although not all of the decisions were favorable by the people, the state government found it necessary to set limitations to citizen interactions. Since there are flexible decisions based on the situation, California was faced with a mandatory quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic. As we watched the decision unfold for our closure, we saw other states have different restrictions (Federalism). Churches and businesses were shut down and martial law was being threatened if people disobeyed. Argumentatively, since the virus was sweeping different countries and causing drastic death rates, it is untestable that we needed to quarantine. However, the closure of church and business caused individuals complications down the line. Things like suicide rats, divorce and personal hardships.

I don't necessarily disagree with the closures, but I believe there were limitations that could have been utilized instead of closing everything down. Having the support of the church could have been detrimental to many individuals. Not every person had support during such a vulnerable time. During the time of the pandemic, I believe the Federal Government made the decision to close down and our state complied.
