Problem: Improving the Candidate Experience at Airbnb

When Airbnb, a company that connects travelers with local residents willing to rent extra rooms by the night, quickly grew from 50 employees to 500, it realized it needed to pay more attention to its recruiting process. Job interviews weren't happening on time, and when they finally did happen, strong candidates were left in limbo for weeks. Co-founder Joe Gebbia believes that everything at Airbnb should be a continuation of what it's like to be a guestin someone's house and wanted to evaluate how each stage made candidates feel. In addition, the hiring process needed to be streamlined so that job offers could be made faster, and the company wanted to reduce hiring bias and improve its diversity.
