Gertrude Eichelberger is an 84-year-old female. She takes multiple medications for HTN, high cholesterol, and some mild confusion. She needs some assistance getting dressed, getting in and out of the shower, and keeping her daytime and nighttime medications straight. Gertrude is a very social person and loves to sit outside on a nice day, talking with some of her neighbors. She lives with her son, Jeremy, who works long hours and often has to travel for business. A few weeks ago Gertrude went out for a walk and forgot how to get home, prompting a 911 call from her son. Jeremy leaves prepared food in the refrigerator with reheating instructions, often coming home to find the food untouched. He feels his mom needs more care than he can provide. He states that money is no object in placing his mom in a facility where she can maintain as much independence as possible, with some supervision and assistance, but still allowing her some opportunities for socialization.
