Scenario - Helping a Child Regulate Frustration

During a painting activity, you noticed one child having trouble holding the paintbrush. The child seems frustrated as all the other children have finished painting. You approached the child and calmly asked what was wrong. The child said that he has trouble keeping the paintbrush in his hand. You calmly told him that having trouble holding the paintbrush is not a bad thing and that it is normal to make mistakes.

You then told the child to take deep breaths to help them control their emotion. After several minutes, you then taught the child how to properly hold the paintbrush while making sure that they finish the activity on their own.

Identify one feature of a respectful relationship shown in the scenario.
