Muhammadu was referred to see you by his high school principal because he had been suspended seven times for fighting with other students. Muhammadu's family do not believe in counseling but have allowed him to meet with you so he would not get kicked out of school. During the assessment, Muhammadu informs you that he gets into fights at school because he is constantly being bullied because of his religion. He tells you that other students pick on him because of his name, tug at his traditional clothes and call him a terrorist. He also informs you that his life and the lives of his family members have been turned upside down since September 11th, 2001.  Muhammadu and his family are often fearful leaving their home due to the day-to-day harassment they endure. He tells you that on a recent flight, the passenger sitting next to his father become uncomfortable and told the flight attendant to seat him elsewhere on the plane. Muhammadu expresses in frustration that he is tired of the discrimination, harassment, and bullying. Fighting is the only way he can stand up for himself.
