Question

A 28-year-old woman medical doctor referred her to you because of frequent panic attacks. She is married and has two children. In your first meeting with her, she revealed that she is concerned that she might have an anxiety attack on the bus and if that happens, she would just die. La-Gee appeared to be very tense and lamented, what if I have one of those awful attacks when I'm at the bus stop. What if it happens at JPS or NWC when I go to pay my bills ohh my gosh what if I say that my daughters school. I know I will just die of embarrassment everyone would be thinking that I am a bad mother. She describes a recent incident in the supermarket where she was standing in line and became sweaty, nervous, and dizzy. She just knew that everyone was staring at me and I had to drop my groceries and run. Now I can never go back that supermarket I just have to find somewhere else to shop no one understands what I am going through they all think it's in my head I feel so hopeless and alone.

La-Gee background history revealed that she grew up in a single parent family where her mother was always concerned about her life would turn out. La-Gee can remember her mother constantly going to the doctor and always been worried that she would die from cancer like her great grandmother. Her mother presently overseas and as far as La-Gee knows she is in good health.
