Assessment - Learning Resource
Description:
This assessment is designed to develop your critical thinking and application of theories, models, and perspectives explored throughout the unit. You will design and reflect on a learning resource for a small group (2 - 3) of either infants or toddlers.
Your assessment task must address the following:
Selection of Resource:
Choose a learning resource you would offer to a small group of infants or toddlers. Clearly describe the resource and how it will be used.
Visuals:
Include one or more images of the learning resource. These can be original photos or relevant images sourced from the internet (images taken online need to be referenced but your own photos don't).
Theoretical and Conceptual Foundations:
Reflect on and discuss the knowledge base that informs your resource. This should include relevant theories, methods, curriculum approaches, and/or perspectives appropriate to the selected age group.
Rationale:
Provide a rationale for your learning resource. Justify your choices by linking to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and academic literature.
Holistic and Play-Based Learning:
Explain how your learning resource promotes holistic, play-based learning. Consider the role of the physical and social learning environment in your explanation.
Teaching Strategies (Pedagogies):
Analyse the pedagogical strategies you will use when offering the resource. Discuss how you anticipate children will engage with the resource and the role of the educator.
Analysis of Learning:
Identify and analyse what the children are likely to learn through their engagement with your resource. Make links to some developmental domains (e.g., cognitive, physical, emotional, social). You may also support your discussion with relevant concepts related to development where appropriate.
