Case: Casey is new to her clinical area, which is a busy surgical ward in a medium-sized acute hospital in a small city where most people know each other. Casey has been assigned a mentor who was reluctant to take on the role. They have been meeting irregularly and, when they have met, the mentor constantly complains about how busy she is and consequently rushes the arranged sessions.
