Question
Amara was a chubby child from early on. She had beautiful, full cheeks that enhanced her smile, and a strong and stocky figure that everyone said she inherited from her father's side of the family. Her elder sister was much more delicate in appearance, and taller and thinner - taking after her mother more than Amara did. Amara was an active child but always "loved her food", especially sweets. When she went into Grade 5, she was bullied by a group of girls for her weight, and she would come home in tears on a regular basis. Puberty was particularly difficult as she seemed to develop much sooner than her peers, and she would be the target of nasty comments from the boys in her class. When she was 13, she started experimenting with over-the-counter weight loss aids to counteract the effect of the binges she would have every weekend. By the time she was 14, between the weight loss aids, a new interest in running 5 kms every day, and a strict paleo diet, she now was 15 pounds underweight. Her mother took her to the doctor because she was concerned that Amara is losing too much weight and seems overly preoccupied with her appearance. She won't touch a food that isn't on her meal plan, not even for special occasions. Amara says she will do whatever she has to in order to "never be fat again!".
