This article explores what happens when local investors (these used to primarily be local businesspeople and doctors who considered the facility to be an important community resource) sell a hospital to a private equity firm whose entire reason for existing is to make money. Analyze the strategic plans for a failed hospital. Include the following aspects in the assignment: What aspect(s) of the strategic plans failed? (you may make assumptions here as the actual plans are not available) Were the (presumed) mission/vision/value statements aligned with achievable goals Were the assessments of internal and external threats correct? What is the impact on the community with the loss of these hospitals? Are you supportive of federal interventions to keep hospitals viable and protected from business practices such as occurred here?
