Question: The Venusian atmosphere is much more dense than our atmosphere, and contains about 96.5% Carbon Dioxide and 3.5% Nitrogen (plus a number of gasses that occur in very small concentrations). Knowing that Venus does not have active plate tectonics and that it lost all its water early in its planetary history, explain why Venus's carbon dioxide concentration is so high. Explain why Oxygen is not a major component of the Venusian atmosphere, but is a major component of Earth's atmosphere.
