When o-phthaladehyde is treated with base, o-(hydroxymethyl)benzoic acid is formed. Show the mechanism of this reaction.

In the picture in my book it is o-Phthaladehyde then 1.-OH on top of the arrow and 2. H3O+ on the bottom of the arrow leading to the o-(Hydroxymethyl)benzoic acid
