Carbonic anhydrase (molar mass = 30,000 g/mol) of red blood cells has one of the highest turnover numbers. It catalyzes the reversible hydration of CO2: H2O + CO2 ? H2CO3 If 10.0 µg of pure carbonic anhydrase catalyzes the hydration of 0.30 g of CO2 in 1 min at 37°C at Vmax, what is the turnover number (kcat) of carbonic anhydrase? The units should be in min-1.

If the Km of carbonic anhydrase for the above reaction is 1.8 mM, what is the catalytic efficiency of this enzyme under these conditions? The units are s-1M-1.
