Scenario: Mobile Car Wash and Detailing Jim and Paul are best friends. They have talked about starting a business for several years. They have decided to start a mobile car wash and detailing service. To reduce operating expenses, they agree not to purchase a physical building site for the business. The company will use social networks to advertise and market its services. Paul is working with another friend to discuss how they will let customers make online appointments and how to notify customers of appointment changes, which include changing the time of appointment, location, and cost. To start with, below are some of the business requirements the company needs to put in place to be successful in delivering good services to the prospective customers: Mode of Payment Jim and Paul unanimously agree on accepting payments via different gateways. They agree that accepting multiple forms of payment will be best for most customers. This will mean that they will have to provide multiple forms of receipts in the form of either e-mails or printed receipts at the time of service. Multiple modes of payment gateways will allow customers to make advancement payments and secure the payment information. Paul anticipates they will be storing and retrieving large amounts of data. Reservation Controls Jim and Paul want to allow customers to cancel appointments. In addition, customers also receive the cancellation information on their mobile devices. Mode of Transportation Jim has started working with determining the products and equipment they will need to purchase and obtain suppliers to fulfill their inventory. They are working in collaboration with a fleet company to determine the type of vehicles required for a business of this nature. To complete Part 1 of the project: Identify and suggest the dimensions of information systems Paul and Jim should use to fit the company requirements. Explain how each dimension will be used by the new company. Support your answer with a rationale. Suggest the type of problem-solving approach to suit the need of the business.
